Thanks to the insertion of titanium screws in the bone, artificial prosthetic pillars can be obtained for the construction of a fixed prosthesis.
This technique allows us to rehabilitate complete arches and edentulous areas with fixed prostheses even when healthy teeth are no longer present.
The alternatives to implantology are traditional fixed prosthesis when possible. This includes filing teeth adjacent to the edentulous area and the mobile prosthesis.
ALL ON 4 TECHNIQUE (BY DR. MALO ‘)
A new procedure called All on 4 has been recently proposed for the treatment of edentulous patients. The procedure involves the insertion of four implants of which the two distals are angled about 30°.
This slanting allows to bypass limiting anatomical structures such as the mental foramen in the lower jaw and the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus in the upper jaw and to have the shoulder implant in the 2°premolar/1°molar area.
This strategy allows the construction of a temporary prosthesis immediate loading using pre-fabricated components and acrylic resin, drastically reducing the time and cost of treatment.
With this method it is possible to rehabilitate edentulous patients with fixed prostheses in less than 24 hours.
The Flapless technique
It involves the insertion of dental implants without affecting the gingiva. The planning of this operation takes place with different methods: currently the most innovative involves computer processing of the patient’s CT, allowing the practitioner to virtually position implants in a specific portion of bone in the ideal position.
This procedure has the great advantage of being minimally invasive and is best for a completely edentulous patient with a full mobile prosthesis. Surgical operation times are drastically reduced and post-operative discomfort is almost nullified.
